Praise for
Madhyam comes from Pakistan!
Who would
believe that there are Hindi enthusiasts in Pakistan? But Mr.
Kalimullah (kalim@gem.net.pk), a Quantity Surveyor and a great
fan of Ghalib based in Karachi, made my day when he sent me a
mail praising 'Madhyam'. I quote his words: "I have used
your Hindi word processor which is gift for me because hindi
word processor is not available in Pakistan.
"I am not a young
man. I am 59 and almost retired. I have downloaded your software from
your website. Computer is not my field. I am Quantity
surveyor, a science graduate. Mathematics is my favorite
subject. I have just learnt Hindi using a book without help of any person.
I have read a detective novel in Hindi which I have never read in
Urdu because it is the only stuff available in book sale market arranged
here every Sunday.
Seekhay hain mahrukhon kay liye mussavary
kuch to taqreeb behray mulaqat chahiyay
(Asadullah
Ghalib)
I personally feel that the only significant difference between
Hindi and Urdu is the alphabets. If a person learns to read and write 36 alphabet and 12 bara
khadee (Hindi vowels) he can read and write Hindi in a very short time and become
an expert with the passage of time. Also if a Hindi speaking person learns 38 alphabets of
Urdu, he can read and write Urdu in a short period of time and
can become expert with more practice.
-Thanks Mr.
Kalimullah for your love for Hindi and using 'Madhyam'- Balendu
